What is the best type of carpet for my patio and is there an edging that won’t fade in the sun?

Dear Patio Planner,
There are two types of “soft” flooring used in outside venues. One is natural sisal and the other is artificial sisal.
Natural sisals have the advantage of being more natural and trendy looking but tend to curl when the weather and humidity change.
Artificial sisals tend to be more stable when the weather changes but do not have the same “look” as natural sisal.
There are two edge treatments which are more sun resistant than many others. One is to serge the rug using a polyester yarn which we stock. The second is a fabric border made from a sun resistant materiel. One leading product is called “Sunbrella” and is also available through us.
